Why Getting Uncomfortable Is the Key to Personal Growth (and Why You’ll Never Level Up Without It)

If You Want Growth, Discomfort Is Required
As a strength and mindset coach, I hear it all the time:
“I want to grow.”
“I want change.”
“I want to feel stronger—in my body and in my life.”
But here’s the hard truth: you can’t grow where you’re comfortable.
Real growth? It’s forged in discomfort, doubt, and doing the hard things on purpose.
So if you’re trying to build confidence, grow your mindset, or become the strongest version of yourself (in and out of the gym), you’re in the right place.
My Own Journey with Getting Uncomfortable
Recently, a fellow fitness coach and friend asked me:
“What are some of the biggest things you’ve had to get uncomfortable with in your life?”
Here’s what I told her—because each of these moments shaped who I am as a coach, wife, leader, and woman today.
🔹 Moving to a New City Alone
When I left my hometown to attend college, I didn’t know a soul. I was scared, lonely, and way outside my comfort zone. But I grew fast. I built independence and resilience I never would’ve found staying where it was “safe.”
🔹 Living in an RV to Pursue a Bigger Vision
My husband and I once lived in a tiny RV to save money and build our dream. It wasn’t glamorous—but it taught me that short-term sacrifice leads to long-term transformation.
Growth often requires giving up ease for a season.
🔹 Working Three Jobs and Still Showing Up
There was a time I was working multiple jobs, waking up before sunrise to volunteer, and still pouring into my business. I didn’t always know how I’d manage it all—but I knew I couldn’t quit on myself.
You build mental strength by doing hard things—again and again.
🔹 Taking Risks in Love, Business, and Life
From building my brand to building a marriage, I’ve made bold decisions without a guaranteed outcome. But every risk taught me something—and that’s what true self-growth is all about.
What This Means for You (Yes, You)
If you’re feeling stuck, frustrated, or like your goals are out of reach—check in with yourself:
👉 Are you avoiding discomfort?
👉 Are you waiting for confidence before taking action?
Because newsflash: confidence doesn’t come before action—it comes because of it.
Every bold move, every messy try, every scary step? That’s where your power lives.
Your Growth Challenge: Do It Anyway
Here’s your call to action:
- Sign up for the course.
- Hire the coach.
- Apply for the job.
- Have the hard conversation.
- Start the thing you’ve been putting off.
Do it scared. Do it imperfectly.
Just do it anyway.

Final Thoughts: You’re Capable of More Than You Think
Growth won’t wait for you to feel ready. And the best version of you? She’s not found in comfort—she’s created in the stretch.
So go ahead—get uncomfortable. You’ve got this. 💪
